Ever had that moment when you realise something you’ve been doing for years just isn’t lighting you up anymore?

That’s where I found myself recently with SEO consulting. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve loved helping businesses climb those Google rankings and watching their organic traffic soar.

But something wasn’t clicking anymore, and it took me a while to figure out exactly what it was.

Here’s the thing about SEO: it’s basically a religion. You follow the best practices, create the content, build the links, and then… you pray. 🙏

You pray to the Google gods that your rankings will improve, that the next algorithm update won’t tank your traffic, and that you can justify the ROI to increasingly skeptical clients.

“Just have faith,” we tell our clients. “SEO is a long-term game. Results will come.”

But after a few years of riding the Google algorithm roller coaster, I started questioning my faith. The unpredictability was wearing me down.

Every time Google rolled out a new update, I felt like I was back at square one, trying to decode their cryptic blog posts and figure out what “helpful content” really means this time.

My wake-up call came from an unexpected place – my own online business.

Three years ago, I launched an online migration consultancy focused on Europe. The SEO expert in me did everything right. I created detailed content targeting all the right keywords. I optimised every page within an inch of its life.

And it worked. The leads started flowing in.

But here’s the incredibly embarrassing part.

Those leads? They were slipping through my fingers like water. My inbox was overflowing with enquiries, but my bank account wasn’t reflecting it. I had the traffic, but my processes were a mess. Actually, let’s be honest – I barely had any processes at all.

Looking back now, I probably left hundreds of thousands of dollars on the table.

Each lead that went cold because I didn’t follow up quickly enough. Each potential client who drifted away because my onboarding was clunky. Each opportunity lost because I was drowning in manual tasks instead of focusing on high-value conversations.

I needed way more than just good SEO. I needed systems. Automation. A way to scale without losing my mind.

But I didn’t know that then.

Fast forward to late 2024, when it all changed. I stumbled across something that made everything click: AI automation workflows.

Now, AI itself wasn’t new to me. With a PhD in social data science and two years of experience using various AI tools, I was certainly no stranger to the technology.

But something about combining AI capabilities with automated workflows felt different. It was kind of like finding the missing piece of a puzzle I’d been trying to solve for years.

Suddenly, I could see exactly how my Europe migration business could have been different.

Imagine leads automatically being qualified and nurtured. Imagine personalised follow-ups happening while I sleep. Imagine a business that runs smoothly whether I have 10 leads or 100.

Let me give you a concrete example of what I’m going on about. One of the first automation workflows I built was for my own content creation.

Like many business owners, I knew I needed to post regularly on LinkedIn, but the process was a time sink. Writing posts, crafting hooks, formatting all added up to hours I couldn’t really spare (not without eating into my main revenue-generating activities, like actually working with clients).

So I built a simple but powerful automation using Make:

  • I voice dictate ideas into Slack via my phone, whenever inspiration strikes
  • My AI assistant, Claude, works behind the scenes to immediately transforms that rough idea into a properly structured LinkedIn post in my style and voice (trained on several examples beforehand)
  • The post then gets sent to a Google Sheet where I can give it a quick review and make any edits before publishing (it doesn’t usually need many edits)
  • And finally, Slack gives me a quick ping to let me know a new post is waiting for review

That’s it. No more staring at blank screens. No more faffing around with endless LinkedIn templates. No more losing good ideas because I didn’t have time to flesh them out properly.

This simple automation has helped me post almost every day so far this year, building my audience while barely touching my keyboard.

And this is just scratching the surface.

For my migration business, I could have built automations to qualify leads, schedule calls, send personalised follow-ups, and handle routine client questions. All those manual tasks that drained my energy could have been streamlined or eliminated entirely.

That’s when I knew I had to pivot.

For 2025, I’m going all in on AI automation. Yes, automation can revolutionise SEO and content creation, and I’ll definitely be sharing insights about that (after all, content is a key part of almost every business).

But this is way bigger than just SEO.

This is all about helping businesses create systems that actually work. Systems that save time, save money, and generate more revenue, all powered by intelligent automation.

Isn’t it funny how things come full circle?

My journey through SEO taught me the importance of visibility. My Europe migration business taught me the painful lessons of poor systems. And my background in data science gave me the technical foundation to understand AI’s true potential.

Now, I get to bring all of that together. Instead of just helping businesses get found on Google, I can help them build automated systems that turn those visitors into customers.

Instead of asking clients to “have faith” in the viability of long-term SEO results, I can show them immediate improvements in their operations.

So far, the people I’ve demonstrated automations systems to have gotten unreasonably excited about their potential (even the most simple ones, like my LinkedIn authority post creator above).

And for the first time in a while, I’m genuinely excited about the future of my business. If you’re reading this, I hope you’ll join me on this journey.

Expect to see more content here about AI automation, practical systems, and real-world applications that go way beyond the basic ChatGPT prompts that everyone’s using these days.

Because here’s what I’ve learned: getting traffic is only the beginning. It’s what you do with that traffic that really matters. With the right AI automation systems in place, the possibilities are truly endless (in fact, it’s pretty addictive!).

So let’s make 2025 the year we stop praying to the Google gods and start building automated systems that actually work (and save our sanity as business owners in the process).

What do you think? Have you experienced similar frustrations with SEO? Are you curious about how AI automation could transform your business in 2025 and beyond? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
